The Billion Minds Initiative

Billion Minds is Knack’s audacious plan to use its technology to unlock the potential of the world’s underserved, and give them the chance to achieve economic independence through secure livelihoods.

The Rockefeller Foundation is supporting Knack in connecting economically and socially disadvantaged youth with career opportunities in India, South Africa and the United States.

Knack is calling all employers, workforce agencies, communities and cities to join us in empowering youth to realize their full potential.

For more than 100 years, The Rockefeller Foundation’s mission has been to promote the well-being of humanity throughout the world. Today, The Rockefeller Foundation pursues this mission through dual goals: advancing inclusive economies that expand opportunities for more broadly shared prosperity, and building resilience by helping people, communities and institutions prepare for, withstand, and emerge stronger from acute shocks and chronic stresses. Together with partners and grantees, The Rockefeller Foundation strives to catalyze and scale transformative innovations, create unlikely partnerships that span sectors, and take risks others cannot—or will not.

The Rockefeller Foundation supported Knack to conduct a study of 600 unemployed 16- to 24-year-olds in New York City and Los Angeles, publishing its findings in Impact Hiring: How Data will Transform Youth Employment.

The Financial Times interviewed Dr. Judith Rodin, President of The Rockefeller Foundation, reporting

“Rockefeller concluded that the games, designed to test skills appropriate for each role, ‘hold great promise’ for changing the course of youth employment. The foundation is especially excited because unlike intensive training programmes such as one-on-one interview-coaching, video games are easily scalable, creating the opportunity to get a lot of people their first job, fast.”

Visit The Rockefeller Foundation blog to read Dr. Rodin’s post about using technology to screen for hidden talent.

Millions of young people worldwide are yearning for a better future. Fortunately, the confluence of data technology, Internet connectivity, and the ubiquity of mobile phones provides an unparalleled opportunity to make an unprecedented social impact.

We’re committed to using our technology to provide disadvantaged youth a pathway to social mobility and economic security. We strongly believe that helping young people discover, develop and deploy their talents, so they can live life to their full potential, will make their life better, break persistent cycles of poverty, and make them hopeful about the future.

It is for this reason that we’re calling all employers, workforce agencies, cities, and communities to join this mission. Becoming a change agent has never been easier. Contact us today at partnership@knack.it to join those who're already making this change happen.
